Nebraska Fishing Reports

Fishing Reports from the readers!!!

Fishing is a hell of a sport and if you don't think it is a sport you can kiss my ass. Fishing is hard work, you can get hurt, and you sweat and swear all day. See almost like football.

Ok lets start off in fishing in Nebraska. This is going to be actual fishing success reports and stories in Nebraska or anywhere else.

Pawnee Park (Platte County)

They're are many public places like Pawnee Park in Columbus. It is good for blue gill. I usually use night crawlers with a bobber but you can catch these fish we damn near anything. I mean we have used olives and caught them. Now you see these huge bass swiming around you think wow I can catch that and your dangle the bait in front of their faces but they hardly ever bite. There are alot of rules here to. But when you need Blue Gill this is the place to go. They stocked it full of trout last year but i haven't caught one.   (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)

Lake North (Platte county)

Lake North is north of Columbus. Ive fished here many times and let me tell you it sucks unless you get up early enough to get near the bridge ,that connects lake babcock to lake north, then you have a chance. But it gets really crowded. I've almost caught a one huge catfish there and other than that no luck. Boats are allowed. (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)
Lake Babcock (Platte County)

This lake is located right next to Lake North. It is somewhat good for fishing no boats are allowed in it. I have caught many skip jack there and some huge carp but that is about. But I think it could contain the some big catfish allthough it isn't deep. Night Crawlers are the only thing i have used on this lake i have caught skip jack and some carp and some good sized catfish. (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)

Tail Race (Platte County)

Tail Race is a great place to fish. Record catfish have been brought in there. But it is very crowded. The banks are usually lined up with fisherman by 5:00 a.m. most days. I have heard of people catching huge catfish on walleye rigs. (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)

Canal (Connects to the Loup River)

The canal is great for a number of fish i have caught tons of catfish along it. I have heard stories about fish as big as cars. And i really belive it. The canal is known to be 16 ft deep in some places. It is great for walleye and carp but mostly catfish. There are alot of good baits. From cut up carp to live night crawlers. I have even had good luck with stink bait. (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)

Clear Creek Resort (Private Lakes)

Clear Creek Resort is a great place to fish also private. I have seen huge carp there mainly because Clear Creek runs through it. We have caught huge bass and crappy but i havn't caught any huge catfish but we have caught alot. This lake is also private get permission. (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)

Bellwood Lakes (Private lakes)

Bellwood lakes is great for fishing. It has 3 lakes connected by little channels. It also has the platte river and clear creek. It is about a mile away from tail race which is where the Loup river connects to the platte. It is awsome fishing but PRIVATE get permission if you are caught you are risking a huge fine and maybe jail time. (Andrew from Columbus Nebraska)
